In Customizing of enterprise organizations (transaction KEOC1 – Settings for Enterprise Organization) you set the hierarchical assignment of company codes to one another.
The “Overlapping company codes” indicator has the value “allowed”.
As a result, you expect the following system behavior: The company code should be inherited by all organizational units below it, only if another company code occurs in the hierarchy. This new company code is then inherited by all the organizational units below it.
This is illustrated by the following example:

In this case,company code 2overlapscompany code 1.
That is, in the further process of the hierarchy, all subordinate objects (for example cost centers CCtr2, CCtr3) must be assigned to company code 2.
