Drilldown reporting: performance and frozen data

[] [] [] []

Symptom

At least two messages are displayed in the status line when you execute a report with frozen data: “Frozen data is being loaded” and “Preparing output”. It may often still take relatively long until the report is displayed although frozen report data exists. Often, most of the time is used for the message “Preparing output”. This is not a program error; the cause for it is simply due to the fact that for reports with complex forms or much data, it takes a long time until the individual data records are correctly assigned to the particular cells of the report.
This modification note shortens the time of the output of data a little. This is accomplished by not only saving the selected data but also a part of the output tables. This is generally associated with a performance improvement which, however, has the disadvantage that (rare) circumstances may exist, where the frozen data is inconsistent (compare for this, for example, Note 183728). This modification note cancels the changes from Note 183728 – however, it is not part of the SAP standard system because of the complications described in Note 183728.
