Symptom

You enter budget supplements or budget returns for orders, WBS elements or investment program positions. However, budget supplements or budget returns that have already been entered are not provided for processing so that – in contrast to the process of entering original budgets – you can only enter anadditionalbudget supplement or anadditionalbudget return (delta).

Reason and Prerequisites

This is due to the system design.
While the total original budget may be subject to changes until it is finalized, budget supplements or budget returns are considered asunexpectedbudget adjustments. However, after the second budget adjustment and each subsequent budget adjustment due to supplements or returns, it would be complicated and confusing if the budget adjustment had to be calculated each time. For this reason, supplements or returns can be entered as deltas only.
Example:

For an order, you have entered an overall budget of EUR 12,000.00 that has been fully used:
Original budget= EUR 12,000.00Current budget= EUR 12,000.00Actual= EUR 12,000.00
There are unexpected additional costs of EUR 1,247.22. For this reason, you post a supplement with this amount using transaction KO24:
Original budget= EUR 12,000.00Supplement 1= EUR 1,247.22Current budget= EUR 13,247.22Actual= EUR 13,247.22
There arefurtherunexpected additional costs of EUR 1,555.17. For this reason, you post a supplement with this amount using transaction KO24.

If transaction KO24 had provided the value of the first supplement for changing when you entered the second supplement, you would have first had to calculate the amount of the new supplement that is to be entered in total.
Supplement required in total= Supplement 1 + supplement 2= EUR 1,247.22 + EUR 1,555.17= EUR 2,802.39Solution
